I didn't need an
attorney....I went once to Medicare offices in town, talked with a really nice representative who took
notes and told me the steps that it would take to get disability payments and that I would get back pay
(so to speak) for the months I had let go by before I applied for it....and he just took alot of time
and was more than
helpful.
It worked just fine
too. My neurologist's office ladies knew what to write in their
response letter to the
Medicare folks and it was approved readily.
The back pay was great
too...one fat check to help me catch up on all my bills.
I hope it is that easy for
all our folks, but I am suspecting it isn't.

Subject: [TMIC] OT help get SSD or SSI The key to getting benefits as fast as you can is to get a social security
approved attorney. They cannot charge more than 25% of the initial
award. I was turned down the first time also, even though I was fired
twice since I am in sales and cannot breathe therefore couldnot talk!!
After the attorney went before the court I was immediately approved.
I went to an attorney on my own prior to that and they wanted $200 per
hour, not the way to go.
