BILL,

I DON'T KNOW THAT TM HAS ANYTHING TO DO DIRECTLY WITH CP, BUT I HAVE IT, ALSO, TO A SLIGHT DEGREE.  I BLAME IT IN HOW I NOW HAVE TO USE MY HAND AND ARM TO TRANSFER.  I STARTED USING MY CURLED-UP KNUCKLES LIKE A MONKEY DOES INSTEAD OF A FLATTENED OUT HAND-PALM TO LIFT MYSELF, AND IT SEEMS TO HELP A LOT.

I DONNO IF YOU USE YOUR ARMS OR HANDS DIFFERENTLY NOW OR NOT.

Subject: [TMIC] Grace/Neuropathic Pain

Hi Grace,

When first admitted to the hospital I could barely move my right leg and when the doctor ran that little thang-ama-jiggy up and down the leg I could not feel anything from the pelvis region down, but when he started sticking needles in me I could feel that until he got to the lower thigh area and then nothing.  I could not move my left leg at all and could not feel anything from the pelvic region down, but yet there was still pain in both legs and the pain was equal in both.

I was still in pain from the spinal surgery they had preformed 1 week earlier and when the TM hit full force, oh good grief the pain was almost unbearable.  Plus right after I was admitted back to the hospital they discovered I had a staff infection in the incision so they had to treat that.  Then they discovered the incision was not draining as it should, so they put in a drain.  So not only were they trying to treat the TM, they were having to treat the incision.  So my legs hurt, my back hurt, my arms hurt from all the needles that had been jobbed in me, my you-no-what hurt from the catheter, and I'm glad we won the war....LOL  And then just when I thought things were getting a little better, here comes the people from PT.  I had worked in the medical field for 16 years and it was at this point in time that I truly learned what PT stood for- PAIN TERRORIST.  But thank goodness after several months I was able ! to stop the steroids and so far I have not had a relapse.

Oh I did have a question.  I think I read somewhere that  people with TM are prone to  Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  Are you or anyone else aware of this or have you heard or read this is true.  For the last month or so I have been having a problem big time with pain in my right wrist.  I have no idea what is going on with it.  Any suggestions would be great.
