We had a mild winter until 2 weeks ago when we started to get snow and it has been here on and off since. I dragged out the heating pad too and sit with it on my low back for a couple of hours in the morning. The legs and hips just sort of seize up. After sitting for a while it is hard to try and get up. A person has to weigh the pros and cons of just moving.

However, I just spent 4 days with my 20 month old grandson and boy oh boy, nothing stops that little guy. The energy. The constant movement and the request for me to 'sit' as he points to the floor and wants me to play with him and his little cars. I have to decline the 'sit' as his little tiny finger points to the floor and plead the case and just say "Lah Lah (his name for me because he can't say Grandma) can't sit on the floor so she will just sit on the couch". He is fine with that as long as I can lean over and play with his cars with him. Perish the thought that I get down on the floor and end up staying there forever. Trying to keep up to him, lift him up to the change table, lift him into the high chair, bend down to help him reach something he is unable to certainly is an exercise workout for the muscles that hurt so much with this cold. Going to bed really early (between 9 and 10) just so I could be up between 6 and 7 when he gets up. Of course I was just visiting and did not have full care responsibilities, but I did want to spend 'quality' play time with him. Being a grandparent is fun.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all hang onto some of the energy of youth? To have some held in reserve so when we have need of it as we age or have illness ie: TM etc we could pull on that energy.

Just musing here in cold Calgary

Frank is right, the cold hurts, it's down right painful. My hands are doing poorly also and I'd been thinking about asking Frank how he is doing with his this winter. I keep a heating pad besid me so I can wrap my hand in it occassionally while I'm sitting here because it gets colder and hurts more while I'm typing with a few more fingers than just one. I'm on line now to learn more about the fish oil.
Patti - Michigan where we can't afford to keep the house at 72 degrees F.
