Yes, you are right, there are some good hearted people - example: I was
hobbling with my cane into a diner a while back, in the teeming rain.
One such person stood in the pouring rain, holding the door until I got
there and got in. And this is in New York!

It was very kind of that clerk to do that for you.  I dropped my cane
yesterday and a clerk left her register to pick it up for me.  There are
still a lot of tender hearted people around.
