By this time I was calmed down from the Meds. they injected and thankful for the relief. My vision of the hungry doctors lurking around with saliva dripping from the corners of their mouths just knowing they had an emergency trauma surgery right in front of them was so obvious. The doctor comes in and said "Well your MRI looks normal and other than some bone degeneration(arthritis) your spine is in alignment and your ok to leave the hospital". My wife and I look at each other with disbelief. We go home and the next day I am having trouble walking and would stand up and just fall like a sack of potatoes falling off a counter. Since all we was hearing from the doctors was bone talk ,my wife got me an appointment with a neurosurgeon. This took 3 weeks to get in. So during this time I am having to use 2 canes to even attempt to walk and still that would not be good enough most of the time. Oh my gosh the constipation problem was almost unbearable( Ya'll did say to talk about anything right?). I remember going to a family practice doctor about the problem and he said " don't we all" what a prick he was. I get my doctor visit with the neurosurgeon and he had some of the best table manners of any doctor, he told me how good he was and he would without a doubt figure out the problem and help me. During the visit he is testing me for where I feel needle prick sensations and discovered that I was very numb from my lower shoulders and down. He looked at me with amazement and said hmmm really and told me I most likely had a tumor on my spinal cord and not to worry, he could go right in with no trouble and remove it, like it was as simple of a procedure as pulling teeth. Of course I had to have another MRI for the thorax region and that took another week. Now somewhere in this confusion I was supposed to have had a MRI in the cervical region and one of the Thorax region but He could only see that I had MRI's of the cervical and lumbar regions "HUH"? Now I'm off once again to get my third MRI for the Thorax region " OH great day in the morning". This takes almost another week and by this time my wife is getting very angry and wants some answers. I get the MRI for the THORAX region and take them and leave them with the doctors office for reviewing. A couple of days later we are told that It appears that I have no tumor and he could see 3 herniated disc and should go to the Emory back/disc specialist and their would be no need for the neurosurgeon to see me again. WHAT! "So much for that Bed side Manner stuff, he dropped me like a hot potato as soon as no surgery was in his future". Now we are looking at another 2-3 weeks for me to see the Emory doctor. I get in to see the backbone specialist/doctor and he has reviewed my MRI's and comes into the room, ask me what was my problems,I told him and with kind of a half grin on his face says "Why are you here"? Huh? ( continue later )
