  Jude's address

  McLaren Regional Medical Center
  Judith Hoops - Room 1003
  401 S Ballenger Hwy
  Flint MI 48532

I obtained this info from the patient information desk (810-342-2173) and
either she hasn't been moved or they haven't updated the computers yet. Any
cards sent to room 1003 will follow her to her new room, however, a new room
number will be posted when it is available.

  Hi Patti,

Thank you very much for this update on Jude, and most of all thank you for
being there with our dear Jude, right by her side, providing comfort. It
sounds like she will be in capable hands at this new Select Care Center. I'm
sure all of us are relieved and thankful to hear this - I know I am. Patti,
when you have the address of where Jude will be, would you please post it. I
know she loves to receive cards.

We love you Jude - you are one Special Lady!

  Love and Prayers,
  Linda

    HI
I was able to visit Jude at McLaren Hospital yesterday. They plan on
keeping her longer this time since she is now on three different (IV)
antibiotics. Unfortunately, she has a blot clot in her pic line that was found
with an ultra sound and Jude was waiting for the removal of the old port and
insertion of a new one. (The blod clot is suspeced to be the cause of the
extreme drops in her blood pressure.) The procedures should have been
completed soon after I left in the afternoon. She needs the port for the
antibiotics and some of her pain meds. Jude was very alert and talkative and we
had a good visit.

Jude might have the opportunity to move to a privite hospital called Select
Care or Select (something) that leases space within McLarens building. I'm
sure someone on tmic is familiar with Select and wonder if you have any info to
pass on to Jude. I am familiar with Select, because my daughter worked for
them as a part-time resperatory therapist for about three years. She has only
positive things to say about the facility where she worked. They pay well,
have a low turn-over rate and have a better nurse- to-patient ratio than
Flint's public hospitals. Jude was concerned, because she has never heard of
Select and wants to be assured that the transfer will benefit her.
Jude's case worker was discussing the pro's of her transfering to Select
when I arrived so Jude had her start over so I could hear the info too.

Dave came in before I left so Jude and I were able to tell him the
information and he was going to check out the facility and ask some questions
to help with their decision.
(Select is an acute long term care hospital not a nursing home.)

Jude is very happy with her infectious desease doctor and does not want
anyone saying anything negative about him to hospital administration. I have
kept quiet when others complained about Jude's care, but thought I would share
something that I shared with Pam and Ella. I wrote it in a smaller print so
you will find it harder to read.

"Hi Pam,
I'm planning to go to the hospital today. I didn't respond immediately,
because I didn't think Jude would want us to call the TV stations. Jude's TM
illness and infection history is terrible, but I don't think she is being
neglected. ......
My Dad had the same Infectious Desease doctor that Jude has at McLaren
Hospital and our whole family thought he was excellent. He kept us informed of
everything he was doing. My Dad spent 58 days in the hospital the first time
until he was finally well enough to come home and 18 days a second time. He
spent two years on IV's and oral antibiotics before he passed away. We
credited
the doctor for keeping him alive those two years and enjoyed the extra time we
had with him.
I wonder every time I visit Jude if it will be the last time and am so amazed
at how strong she is mentally, spititually and emotionally. I will continue to
pray with her and for her and Dave, but I don't want to do anything against her
will.
You and Ella are both closer to Jude and Dave than I am and I appreciate
it so much when you inform me of her situation. I like visiting her and wish I
had known her personally before this had all happened. She is a loving and
caring woman and is also very intelligent. I admire her perseverence and know
if she wasn't so sick she would be a great spokesperson for TM and the
disabled.

I'll let you know how our visit goes.

So, that's my update and I'll keep tmic informed of any info that I'm able to
pass on.

Blessings to all.

Patti - Michigan
