Hi everyone,

I gave into using a scooter after my family bugged me for several years, and I
haven't regretted it. I didn't know how much use I'd get out of the first one,
as I was embarrassed to have it on the back of my vehicle and to use it. I
finally had to get over it and "mentally understand" the benefits! It's so
hard to wrap our heads around things sometimes. Since then, I've had several.

If you don't have insurance to pay for the scooter, here is a good option for
you if you live near a big city. We buy them used because my insurance
wouldn't pay since they bought me a manual one. Craigslist is a great place to
get one if anyone is looking. It was very hard to find one on resale when I was
looking for my first one, and it was really expensive compared to what you can
get them for now. Since so many people get them through their insurance and
are used for a limited time, either don't need or decide they do too much
damage with them to their homes. Believe me, I've done some damage to my walls
when I needed to use it inside, yikes! I've gotten exceptional deals on my
scooters recently by being patient. Then we sell the one I replaced once we
have found a new one. Right now I have a Pride Victory and a Go-go. The
Victory has to go on a lift, so we need the van to use it easily and if we want
to take my husband's car anywhere, we take the Go-go.

The Go-go type (take apart) are good if you don't need to go over any gravel,
up much of a hill, or aren't too heavy. If you have that to deal with, not so
much!

Hugs, Barbara A in Auburn CA

You are right Priscilla. Mine is a small one that can be taken apart in 5
pieces so we don't need a ramp for our mini van. The heaviest piece is the
battery which weighs onoly 28 pounds. My daughter can take it apart or put it
together in less than 2 minutes.

I couldn't live with it.

Hi,
Today I went to my granddaughters' school for a Christmas lunch, then to my
oncologist for bone strengthening infusion. I'm wiped out and my back is going
crazy with spasms.
I've decided to try and get a scooter;I just can't walk very much now. The
walker just isn't enough now. It's been over 16 yrs with tm,and now I'm
fighting the cancer too,and I'm just exhausted. I'll contact my pcp after the
holidays, and see if I can get one.
      Cheryl
