Well, as I said on the other list, where we seem to be squabbling in a far more idiotic manner...
The great thing about our country is that we both have the right to worship in the way we please and to *not* worship at all, if we so choose. If, sixty years from now, Muslims outnumber Christians in this country, will the Pledge be changed to say "under Allah"? And should it? I wouldn't have considered it worth suing over, but... I can't say I disagree with the current verdict. Tokka says very nicely: >-->> ..n' so,gee..what happens to all the other Americans who aren't >'Christian'?? ..hrmm..there's all hell of alotta good people too who aren't >really spiritual at all..but they are just as Patriotic & have a >deep, compasionate love for this country as well..that they'd serve & protct >the U.S.A. & her people in a heart beat..what about them.. ..hrrrmm.. what >about my Pop..i'm a military brat..my Pop was in the Navy & the Airforce.. >i love my Pop..i'm proud of him..what about my Mawm..who was a nurse for >the Army & Airforce in town.. >..what about my cousins.. what about my Grampuh..what about my Aunts & >Uncles..what about my diverse family..WHAT ABOUT ME..i'm not a >Christian..n' it offends me when G.W. Bush leads off his speech w/ the >'UNDER GOD' Pledge of Allegiance just to prove his point that 'he's right' >..(they could have said both versions you know..) .. > >.. ..well anyway..i guess this ads fuel to why i won't see heaven..right?? Well, that depends on who you ask. Lots of religions make room for the 'righteous' who are non-religious. They just don't shout as loud as the others. ;-) --Phish* ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Anya Emerson: Well, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like, whoa, I'm eleven hundred years old. I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans. Tara Maclay: I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad, and it's depressing. --Buffy the Vampire Slayer ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Visit "Apocrypha," a mature readers epic TMNT fanfic, and a bunch of other interesting tales at: http://www.geocities.com/phishtar/main.html> Read Phish ranting and get sneak peeks and 'insider looks' at fics at: http://www.phishtar.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
