~Well, once upon a time a family could get by on one income. Moms
could stay home and devote their time to the kidlets and while dad worked.
Or vice versa. In any event, whether or not to be a "working Mom" was a
choice. Not now. Families can't get by one one income. (Something funny that
happened in the 80's to the economy...won't name names...<ahem>) And as far
as single moms go...its criminal. Child care generally makes working
impossible for single moms cuz so much of the check goes to that. Welfare
provides better income, but now with "Welfare Reform" of course, that can't
be any kind of long-term solution. (Do you know what's happened since
"welfare reform"? Statistically a huge rise in sick and endangered
children...no one can afford proper medical care.) And where do all these
"single moms" come from? The vast majority of lower income single Moms have
fled situations where there was domestic violence, or substance abuse. The
single greatest cause of homelessness among women and children, is domestic
violence-- that is, fleeing a violent home and having no where to go.
Here's the gear-grinding attempt to bring this close to on-topic: The
above is what fuels the dedication of my fan fic character, Sunni. Er..which
IS a TMNT fic... :oD

~Hey, congratulations, and Happy Birthday Alannah! When I joined the
list my youngest one was three, I think..? She's about to turn seven! Ack!
Ah, but these are the Second Generation Turtle Fans, right?
~GW...I'll shut up now. Honest.
