Actually there was really nothing wrong with the old figures, however you'll notice that the front of the shell is kind of elongated, making them look fatter. The Toes show more of the muscle/bone. You can see the screw holes in the shoulders. As Green mentioned it's over all better detailed, not some dump the plastic in the mold and pack it fast to ship. The colors are a bit brighter and the skin is a bit more smooth with the muscles. They appear to be slightly older in the toy as well. The younger turtles were more muscle toned. These look like they've gained a layer or two of fat under thier skin. Fingers and hands appear to be more detailed as well.
