Yes! Indeed the Yumpers were wild and crazy. As were Roseangelo, Venus, and
Cherubae in their own unique way. Bee seemed to be neutral, like me. :P
I did comment about the Yumpers being true Angelos, and wondered that Leah
Nardo should have been renamed Leah Angelo, a triplet with Ria Angelo, and
Klork Angelo.... (if you had to sit near them on the bus singing in their
high-pitched voices???)

Yeah! Glad you got them!

LOVED the pics Mikey Quarter Mane! Many, many thanks for posting them.
Some thoughts:
The Harry Potter kid... some LotR Ringers had pics of that kid posted with
his finger positioned juuuust so it was sticking up the cardboard cut-out
of Legolas at the book section of the LotR Pavillion. For a Legolas fan
like me, that was tantamount to Insulting the Honor of Legolas. If I had
seen the kid, I would have drawn katana and sliced the offending digit off.
<JOKING!> It was kinda funny at the same time it was offending.
The Buffy booth pics. Loved the "bite".
The New Line panel pics: THANK YOU for posting these!!! :) :) :) You were
in a better place for pics than I was for that panel. I am so excited to
see these, being the dedicated LotR fan I am. If you don't mind, I am going
to pass along the photo ID numbers and your addy to fellow Ringers. These
are some of the best overall pics from that panel I have seen. It seems
those of us were Ringers at that panel did not get great pics or get into
good seats for that panel for some reason.... one lady's camera battery
died right before the panel.
Certain pics of you in the Casey outfit: okay, if you guys ever do a X-Men
cosplay, you could SO do Wolverine..... :) (Anyone else notice this
resemblance??)
RE:
Attending San D Con
Because of my... uhm... experience in attending and working booths at cons,
I have often been able to post 'advice'.
So from Leonardo's Guide to Con Going, here are some key tidbits.
Anyone can go, provided, you understand that San Diego Con is bigger and a
bit differently run from the 'average' convention.
First, pick up info from your comic shop, or surf into the offical San D
Comicon website. You can pre-regsiter, or register at the con itself, which
will be in July.
If you preregister, you can go to Preview Night, which is Wed. evening.
If you want to get in free, you can work as a volunteer for a certain
number of hours a day, and that info is on their website.
Pre-registration is usually after Christmas, and as time passes, the fee
goes up.
Next, is the more challenging stuff. Getting in is easy, hotel rooms? Are
harder.
With your registration you will be able to apply for 'housing' also known
as Hotel rooms. The fees for the con will be posted, and they are actually
cheaper than the normal prices they charge. Obviously, the cheaper hotels
fill up first. So either use the housing form, or try to book rooms with a
credit card for reservations on your own. Expect that your rooms will be
over $100 a night.
If you book a hotel that is out of the official convention list, it will
not be on the shuttle bus route, and you will either have to walk to the
nearest hotel on the shuttle route, or drive into the convention each day.
They do charge for parking, and by the way, almost all the hotels do, too.
(Around $15-20+/day.)
My suggestion, is get buddies to split costs, and get the money paid by
everyone in advance of the con.
This is because, the hardest part. MONEY. Start saving NOW. I am not
joking. Food will run you probably over $30 a day, even with a Ralph's
grocery store near the con. San Diego is not a cheap city. You cannot go
for 4 1/2 days without eating, and you won't find free food anywhere
easily. Besides, there are a lot of great restuarants out there, so why not
enjoy it!
And lastly, you want plenty of money for shopping. The dealer hall map was
4 8 1/2 x 11 page foldouts. :)
Oh.. that reminds me.. comfortable shoes! :P
Costumes are optional, but fun. Just follow the con's guidelines about
safety and don't bring weapons. If you are really inspired costume-wise,
there is the Masquerade contest you can enter, info on the San D Con
website.
Okay, so there's the quick overview!
If you have more detailed questions, you can email my and I will do my best
to answer them.
