Well, I admit I expected more 'reviews' on this mailing list, and so I will help fix this hole in our posts!
I was holding my breath so to speak, figuring, yeah, sure, they will botch it up and I will have to sit and cringe and whenever 'outsiders' find out I love TMNT comic books, have to defend myself about the "that's soo dorky!" I don't have to do that with Lord of the Rings. I'd love to be able to do it with TMNT, too. After watching the cartoon, I let that pent up breath out. I was quite happily surprised, relieved, and ecstatic. It's funny. It's serious. It's 'mature' in the right ways. It's true to the characters. It's not the comics on the screen, it's an adaption, but like my beloved LotR, I am pleased with the adaption so far. Hey, how can I complain when my fave character Leo came across so incrediably cool, eh? LOL! I can hardly wait to see how this show will develop over the season. I admit I'm still going to hold my breath again with the meeting with April. Please I don't want the "bimbo" thing, I want intelligent, capable, witty, resourceful April of the Mirage comics. Not that she's perfect, none of the characters are, but please no more damsel in distress/makes a mess almost every week. But having read the synopsis, I am also especially looking forward to Raph meeting Casey, the Don 'solo' with Kirby, the tragic Leo solo, and of course, the gripping Return to NY. I am really curious to see how the cartoon will treat those stories. When I first read the Mirage comics, borrowed from my sister after seeing the first movie, I was up until 2 am reading them on a worknight. I only got 4 hours of sleep and it was a rough day at work, but so worth it. If the cartoon can deliver the kind of impact, excitement, and joy I had reading those comics, then it'll be worth all the wait. I'd say it looks like it so far! Do we really have to wait until Saturday for the next one??? Maybe the next Mirage TMNT comic will arrive at the comic shop soon, and it can be a double-whammy TMNT day? :D (I'm really waiting for this one cause the preview cover had Leo on it up against that mystery Foot guy with a mystery grudge.... argh! The agony of the wait--no this must all be a lesson in patience! ;p) Kim aka on these boards as Leonardo :D
