Well.. it's what I'm starting to call the "whiney fanboy (and fangirl)"
syndrome. He (obviously) doesn't listen to whiners.
Ok, well, its not about whining...these are the "opinions" of his fans, the people that buy his comic. Without these people, his comic doesnt survive. So him not caring as to what these people think is wrong...
I know I wouldn't
give a rat's rump to someone complaining about this and that the whole
time if it's only a trivial issue. Or if it's like the hundredth time
something had been pointed out to them (i.e. like Dan mentioning on the
Art Contest page that it's NORMAL for the Mirage turtles to have all
red masks)
I wouldnt care about peoples complaining either, but I didnt mention anything about complaining. Im talking about things that people would like to see in the comics. When that person complained about the tails, I agreed with Peters comment, cause that -was- whiny complaining. Im talking about when people "suggest" things that they would like to see in the comic, he doent give a reason why...he just says "No"...suggestions and complaining are two diffrent things...
If it were like say, Microsoft, and they wanted to actually create
functional design that works for as many people as possible, yay!
Usability testing is good there.
But when you look at a comic book, that's more or less a work of art.
What the creators do is what THEY want to do. It's their story, their
ideas, and their art put to paper. They aren not going for best design
and user-freindliness.
This just goes back to the topic that -their- artwork is only there, because their fans make it so. And for him not to care about opinions that the fans of his artwork and story have enough to spend 5 more seconds of his time to write 7 more words explaining why, then that rubs me the wrong way...somethings not right about that...
Sure, they know when something is a bad idea
(like Venus, or perhaps the misspelling of a Turtles name), and they do
their best to correct that.
Which I appreciate...
But when people whine about piddley things, like tails or no, Lawson's
style, is there going to be a Krang/Bebop/Rocksteady, or they gonna
have Shredder, how old are they, etc.. etc... Damn, it does get sooo
old!
It olny gets old to hardcore fans like ourselves. We know why. We know why he doesnt bring Shredder back, or why bebop and rocksteady arnt there...or why he likes the tails. But the newcomers that take the time to write in long letters with questions about the past of the TMNT that they dont know, deserve an explanation.
Peter is right in that respect. You don't like it, then don't
buy it anymore. In this case, majority rules. The majority does like
it... not the handful of whiny fanboys.
Peter is right in the respect to ignore whiny complainers, not the people who take time out to buy his comic and write him a letter with questions or suggestions...Its not as if he has to change the comic for these people or even agree with the people, but at least give some sort of acknoledgement to the people...And if the complainers dont like it, then yes, they shouldnt buy it anymore, or just get used to it. But Peter should at least have the respect for the rest of the bunch.....and just to keep it strait....im not a whiny fan boy, just a person with an opinion...
