But I think anyone who is a fan of Stanley Kubrick appreciated that ending. To me, the film would have been unfinished without it. And... do you really consider a little half-boy trapped underwater wishing to become a real boy for all eternity a "happy ending?" hmm... well, I dunno. I loved it. And yeah, it was heart wrenching ... and even tho I can not stand Haley Joel Osmont, I think he did a good job in this character.
