*comes back in, all pumped up from a really cool New Media presentation
at IUPUI*

Oh wow, perfect timing! Yes.. I think it's FoxBox in itself that's
suffering a bit. The old season, before this new FoxBox facade, seemed
much better. Even though I'm not a huge fan of anime shows, I didn't
mind watching shows like Digimon, Medabots, and the occasion TF:Robots
in Diguise.

But now... eh, it is scary that the only good show I like on the Fox
Box is TMNT. It's the only thing I watch there. Before that, I'm
sleeping, and as soon as the Crap Twins come on, I'm fleeing from that
to watch the Rugrats and the Wild Thornburry's.

Which brings me back to this New Media presentation, called the
Interface Symposium. It's the first time they did this, so there were
some bugs, but I thought it was great! The folks in charge of this,
had invited 10 guest speakers from around the country, in various
mediums. http://interfacesymposium.iupui.edu/

We had a couple Marvel comic book artists, a variety of CGI and
traditional animators, video game developers, and graphic artists for
TV and web.

The big animation company was none other than Klasky Csupo Inc. This
is the one that puts out such features like the Simpsons, Ren & Stimpy,
the Rugrats and the Wild Thornberry's. You know, the well done
animated shows!

And.. they are always looking for new talent!

*grumbles about the fact this is in LA* Why is everything cool out in
California? :P

But anyway, the spokeslady Rachelle Lewis, agrees that it seems that
good quality shows are going down... suffering from this new outcry for
that crazy reality TV. But she's not gonna give up the fight. They
are going to continue pushing what they can in hopes of turning it
around. And... there is news that they are planning to bring Ren &
Stimpy back with all new episodes.

I was also motivated with the really good advice she (and the rest of
the speakers ont he panel) about reassurinf us that we still have the
opportunity to built a career in animation, CGI, veido game designing,
etc if we have the will. And what it takes to built a portfolio with
concept sketches and other design work for companies like this to look
at.

So... even though it seems that the Fox channel can't pick the right
kind of shows, doesn't mean all cartoons everywhere are going down the
sewer. I still have hope for the future... especially if talented
artits types like us can change that! :D
