I picked it up today, so now I'm able to comment too!

Oh! At first, I totally flew by that panel and didn't notice!
lol! For
some reason, the heavy beard reminded me of when Snoopy dressed up
while
playing the World War 1 Flying Ace going in and out of taverns.
What was
the point of Don looking like that? Was it a portrayal of her
father or
      just plain delirium?

me: That was very funny! I think it was supposed to be one of those
Fruedian things? Especially in conjunction with the "mother" thing.
And I thought it was Raph in that get-up, but I could be wrong. Have to
go back and look. It's just it was the "Raph Action Figure (aka Doll)"
talking to her throughout. That was hilarious good fun. Especially when
perched on the top of the computer screen, then dumped in the trash, as
commented by others. :D

      > Also loved the other panel where April thwacks Raph's illusion

      > trashcan. Had that Plushie feel to them as well.

Okay, now that was great! A talking Plushie that knows right from
wrong!
Hey, wish my Raph plushie did that!

<snip>

Yeah, I wondered that too at first. My guess is this whole issue
is
probably what's going through her head after the Turtles took her
home and
she's asleep on their couch. I mean, how could she know what the
TMNT look
like in the turtle soup illusion with her mom? It's as if her
childhood
memories were mixing with her present dream visions. Um, not as
if, it was!
      :D

me: I agree. I think the idea is that when she's told she must have had
some sort of short dream, that's the short dream we saw in the comic.
Then we are carried forward in time to where she recalls how she met
them, and voila! It would have spoiled the fun pacing if it had started
where she sees them, then has the dream.

me: Peter David has always been an excellent writer! He's one of the
most prominent writers in the comics industry, and deservedly so. He has
a great way of getting into the characters with enough depth that he is
able to write convincing dialogue and set up stories that will not be
run-of-the-mill cliche. Among other things, he's done some very fun Star
Trek novels, that as you read them, you can hear the voices in your
head, because he's chosen exactly the words and usage the character does
in the show. And his columns for the Comic Buyer's Guide: But I Digress
have been great reads. I had the fortune to meet him once while running
the FoL booth when he was there for a signing. :D
I will admit I was shocked to hear he was going to be writing this
mini-series. It just never seemed that TMNT was something Peter would
ever consider writing for, but I am glad! These first two issues are
awesome at fitting right around the cartoon episode, and completely
enhancing and enlarging what took place in the episode! And while the
art is a bit "out there" in style, it completely works! It's nicely
dynamic, and again, complements with the cartoon without being a slavish
imitation.
The use of color was well-done in this, too.

So there's my two cents to what HT and Brinatello wrote. :D

Leonardo

(and here's the rest of what they wrote....)

I liked that, too. This comic is not only based on a loose
storyline on the
new cartoon, but many other adaptations. I have yet to see a full
tie-in
universe. When world's collide, so to speak!

"Mom?! Dad?! Mini-Me?!? Weird Turtle Guys?! Anybody?"

      lol.
