Thanks! Just to be clear, the behaviour I'm aiming for is: When dragging using the mouse, if word/line selection is active, continue selecting additional content in that mode. When moving the cursor using arrow keys, keep existing single char selection behaviour.
For example, this is how Firefox seems to handle selection.
