Hi all. The "split-window" has an useful agreement, if shell-command option is '' (empty), it will create pane without a command, such pane is useful to show some messages by "display-message". But "new-window" don't follow such agreement. And so this is inconvenient, if I need to create window full of panes on each of them is showed some log or monitoring. First pane created by new-window will not the same, as the others. I suggest to add the feature about '' (empty) shell-command argument to the "new-window" too.
