'Ctrl-a ]' will paste the buffer directly into whatever application you're currently running, which would be the terminal in your case. I guess that's not really what you want. Is anything happening when you press that? I can't tell from your notation but note that you're NOT supposed to hold Ctrl when pressing ']'.
