Sorry this is a bit unclear to me. When you enumerate all the background
colors via 'for i in {0..255} ; do printf "\x1b[38;5;${i}mcolour${i}\n";
done' you see colour8 black but every other color is okay, showing the
full 256 color gradient? How are the colors different when you are
attached to a tmux server and doing that directly in the terminal?
Also, what's your TERM envvar in the terminal in which you attach to the
server?
