Hi all, Being busy these days, I couldnt reply but slowly following all the mails. Guess I already told about 'Abhayam', which is recently registered as an NGO.
Well recently some days back I visited a small trust in Madanapalli. The trust has been conducting several social welfare programmes in their town and last year they conducted an eye check camp in madanapalli with the help of Sankar eye care hospital, pammal,Chennai. This year they dont have enough funds for this. So this year 'Abhayam' is supporting them financially for this camp. Sankar eye care hospital does this by free. They will come with two buses and they examine and take around 120-130 (not more than that) patients to be operated. They will take them to chennai and get their eyes operated and then bring them back in 3 days. Again a team of doctors will come after a week of this to examine the patients condition and if they have any problems and all. As per the trust they need around 35k for this camp. This is for the travelling charges like diesel, petrol for the hospital buses and then for providing them boarding and lodging after they come here( for one day only) and then for propagating about the eye camp in the town and near by villages. We started a thread in orkut 3 days back regarding contributions for the eye camp. And as of now we got Rs.10,750. We have to book the date one month prior to the camp. So we will be able to arrange as soon as we get the funds. Im just spreading the word.
