Hi All,
The following are the updates from the last weekend.*
*
*Divya's Case:*
Shobha had been to NIMHANS to seek guidance in Divya's case. The doctor whom
we had spoken to the last regarding this was not there. So had to return
without any major development in that case.
*Visit to Spastics Society:*
Keerthi and Rajesekhar went to Spastics society on Saturday.
They found that it is a well organised society for PH and MR children.
They have various faculties (like ENT, ophthalmalgist, physiotherapy etc.,).
The person to whom v spoke to is also a physiotherapist himself (MR.RAbi ph:
09845409865).
He explained various activities taking place in the society. There is one
more group from IBM who is helping this society. 20% of this NGO's expenses
come from govt. of INDIA. and the rest thru fund raising. It includes
selling the drawings, paintings, greeting cards, crafts made by these kids.
Mind Tree buys around Rs. 3-4 lakh greeting cards from this society. Infact
its logo has been designed by one of this society's kids.
Even though these kids are physically handicapped or otherwise disabled they
have a tremendous potential which if properly channelised can make them to
do wonders.
These kids like school a lot that they will go to a state of depression
during the weekend. So to avoid that, society is starting a program called
"peer group" where in each of the volunteers working for this society has to
go their home during the weekend and spend some time with them and also in
Saturdays. They are keeping the society open only for such kind of
volunteers who cannot come on weekdays.
As such they don't have so many problems for money but they require people
who can work on the weekdays (mon - fri 9:30 to 3:15).
Rajshekhar discussed the problem of Divya with Mr.Rabi and he asked to
consult him in the next week whenever possible.
People also can sponsor for one kid every year (costs 12,000/-)
If any of u r interested u can join the peer group program.
Now we can discuss among ourselves what can be done.
*Visit to Kurnool to met Doctors:*
Raghu have visited some doctors in Kurnool for extending their support with
us.
They agreed for the following things:
1) Helping us in deciding the genuineness/feasibility of any medical
related case.
2) Be present at any medical camp organized by us, provided if they are
informed well in advance.
They have come up with some questions as well:
1) If there comes a case, saying that "A hole in a heart, we need 2lacs",
how are we deciding on
a) If the operation can be a success.
b) They are presenting the correct medical reports.
2) If a new member joins the team, after a while, if he comes up with a
case, tells he will be the volunteer, spend some money on the case, and
submit the bills to the group.
How are we making sure if the bills are genuine. Is there any process in
place?
For the first question the answer is with them itself, where they can guide
us. But for the second one I was clueless. We need to concentrate on this.
They also told that if there exists any patients they will refer to us as
well.
Attached is the photo with the names of the people whom I have met.
