I found that all the web.xml files in webapps except jsp-examples uses <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd">
instead of <web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee web-app_2_4.xsd" version="2.4"> I think it might be better for them to use web-app_2_4.xsd together in order to demonstrate Servlet 2.4 spec of which RI Tomcat 5 is. It also could remove possible confusion that users get from the mixed usages.
