actually all is there in server.xml and 
http://localhost is getting u the /$tomcat_home/webpass/ROOT/index.jsp
new contexts are defined in webapps
using xml file ..some samples u can get in /$tomcat_home/webapss/

alos for glossory u can search in web
its all available in plenty
