You will need root privilages to modify it. The hosts file has the following format: <IP address>[space or tab]<hostname>[space or tab]<alias>. I,E., 127.0.0.1 localhost 10.0.0.1 my.server.net my You will need to add the IP address, if it is not already in there, and the hostname as reported in the error message from apache. Hope this helps.
