I use RH AS2.1 and just got finished two days ago doing this very thing.
The build was painless once you figure out what you are supposed to build
and where. I had the whole thing working in less than a day. I have had
some experience with mod_jk, apache 1.3 and tomcat 4, but this was my first
foray into tomcat 5, apache 2, and mod_jk2. It really is quite simple.
I've had some issues with the inprocess stuff inside the jk2.properties
file, but I think that is because I don't have the jkjni.so libs in the
right spot yet, but since I don't really need it, it's not a big deal.

Regards,

Drew

Is JK2 ok? I found the source for it, but only binaries for solaris and
win32, not linux (strange).

I'd have to build it and I hear it's a pain in the arse.

I'm looking ino the johnturner tutorial
