i just discovered that my DOCTYPE points to an old link: http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_3.dtd
if you go there you will see a message with the correct link: http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd however, my app still works, and tomcat didn't complain, nor did it warn me.. why does tomcat still understand my web.xml (or does it?) when the dtd points to something that is not a dtd? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
