Hi there,

I've been trying to complete an install of tomcat without success and need
this problem solved.
Can anyone out there help?

I have Solaris 8 (SunOS 5.8) installed on an Ultra 5 workstation.
I have installed GCC 2.95.2 & Gnu make.
I have also followed the instructions on downloading and compiling the
following:
Apache 1.3.17
openssl 0.9.6
mod_ssl 2.8.0
jsse 1.0.2
jaxp 1.1
jakarta-ant 1.2
jakarta-servelet-api-3.2

I have run through the process setting each of these up as requirements for
jakarta-tomcat.
I've set up all the classpath variables, JAVA_HOME and try and run the
build.sh.

When I do I always get:
        # ./build.sh
        Searching for build.xml ...
        Buildfile: /opt/web/jakarta-tomcat/build.xml

        prepare:

        tomcat:
[javac] Compiling 5 source files to
/opt/web/build/tomcat/classes

        BUILD FAILED

        /opt/web/jakarta-tomcat/build.xml:94: Cannot use classic compiler,
as it is not available

        Total time: 2 seconds

So,

1) What does this mean?
2) How do I get this to compile correctly.

This is the last part of the install process that needs to be completed and
I am completely stumped.
I've asked a couple of Java programmers and they can't tell me what to do,
so anyone out there know the source of the problem??
