It sounds like you're just getting started with all of these
technologies.  If that is indeed the case, you'd do yourself a favor to
start small: review the servlet and JSP specs; work with Tomcat on its
own; then add Apache (if you need it); then add JBoss (presumably for
EJB, etc).

The servlet spec is available at java.sun.com, and the Tomcat docs are
on the same site where you found this mailing list.

Watch out for books: most are outdated.
