Hi Dimitry,

great idae; but I certainly don't take that option. I already spent too much
time in trying to dig things out. I rather do a complete new install and see
what is happening. All my 'valuable' files sit on an external RAID1 ZFS; no
need to worry.

Just before, I did a portsnap in order to install gcc (13) from the sources.
Well, the system was hanging with the last message 'try to find most recent ADA
compiler' (or something like that) with a load > 500. Sorry. Something seems to
be broken beyond repair. And of course: There is no way in install Clang from
packages/ports (at least no the recent version).

I'm using this machine since about 8 ys and did an incremental upgrade starting
with FreeBSD 10. Recently (FreeBSD 13.2), even vim did not work because of
incompatible libs (solved now).

I'm familiar with FreeBSD since version 3.2 ;-) Here, my desktop machine is a
FreeBSD 14.
Time to move on.

Regards.
