Thanks. Checking the related CRs, I see that /usr/ccs/bin/as from Patch
119961-04 has lots of fixes compared to the -02 I've just tried here. I'll
check how it works for a 32-bit only GCC bootstrap. At least the fbe from
Sun Studio Express 11/08 looks quite good so far: the only problem is a
long-standing GCC bug
