Such sad news. Herb was always there in contests. Often struggling with static at his end he always stayed with it to try to pull stations through.
I remember working him from the T32C DXpedition in 2011. Having worked us on 160m CW and Phone he said he’d got all the slots. I cheekily suggested he hadn’t got us on data so we went to RTTY and then PSK and made those slots too. The PSK QSO was almost certainly a first T32 to KV4 - and might be the only one too. RIP Herb, Topband is poorer without you. 73 Chris, G3SVL > On 29 Apr 2020, at 19:21, d...@np2j.com wrote: > > It is with great regret that I have been informed that Herb Schoenbohm KV4FZ > has passed away this morning at his home. > Herb was 84 years of age. > > Herb has been a fixture on Topband since the very beginning, having 160 DXCC > #2 (I believe) and has been active in all 160 Meter contests over the years > setting many records. > > I personally have been amazed at his stamina in contests, even recently, he > would stay up all night CQing long after this 62 year old called it quits...I > hope I live as long as Herbie, and be able to put half the rare ones in the > log as he did routinely > > 73 Herb > > Best wishes to Herbs wife of over 50 years Monica and Sons Tom, Timmy and Eric > _________________ > Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector _________________ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
