FT8 is no more a "robot" that all the newbies with their computer CW
decoders. The number of stations in DX pileups and CW contests is
significant based on the lack of those same calls elsewhere and their
inappropriate/incorrect responses and inability to copy in heavy
QRM/QRN.
Whoever combined the achievements of man and robot either does not
understand what DX _g , or was pursuing commercial goals.
DXing has always been about using the best equipment, antennas *and*
technique available to work *distant* stations. FT8 (and JT65, JT9,
JT4, FST4, Q65, etc.) is nothing other that a leading edge improvement
in technique just as Paul Godley used a, then new, superhet receiver
and Beverage's brand new receiving antenna designs in the 1921
Transatlantic Tests ... and, of course, CW over spark.
