Worked outside for some hours resurrecting my wimpy 2ele array of sad inverted-L's and once the sun went down promptly worked Karel OK1CF. A cpl hours later had a solid but very short QSO with Tom, K1KI, who's pretty close by but very loud, WD6V in Texas, then later, Ralph K8RYU in Ohio.  Ralph was solid 5NN...amazing.

Went to watch TV and when I came back I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the direction system on my 2el array. There are still SWR problems despite all my messing with stuff.  I had taken a nearby lighting strike back over a year ago so still have some wonkiness with certain array controllers, wattmeters, and whatnot around here. In any case, setup calling CQ on 3 distinct frequencies and watching the RBN and 3 what-I-hope-were 3 different directions.  NE, SW and NW/SE (essentially omni).

Imagine my surprise to light up a bunch of the VE6WZ skimmers and also K2PO/7 before the sun had even set there.

I'd like to think it was my 5 hours of soldering, patching, cleaning and taping and 7700 steps of walking around my property fixing radials and repairing wires and connections, but I bet it was more likely just a random really good day of 160M DX.

It was nice in any case.
