I am going to respond to PART of my own post. The question about the higher SWR in 'Omni" mode on my PVS-2-160 array.

Here was my comment:
"

My 2 wire inverted-L's that I am running are both resonant give/take 1.835-1.840 with nice low SWR's. The issue is in (NW/SE) "Omni" mode, the SWR just dances off 3.1:1 (to the NE or SW it's more like 1.7:1 or lower) making the amp very cranky & unhappy."

Digging into the manual (who reads manuals anymore? hi) and doing some googling (won't bore you with all the answers I saw; some from AI) I think tells me that what I sorta suspected about coupling with both wire inverted-L's (more like lazy inverted-J's) who both lean away from one another is exactly my issue.

From the manual "One quarter wavelength spacing results in low SWR in either end fire direction and slightly higher SWR in the broadside directions"

My 2 verticals are 130' apart at the base but probably closer to 175-200' apart at the peaks. They're sorta like this (let's try some ASCII art)

^\ /^

Anyways, it works. I don't think I can do much better given my narrow strip of woods, but if the wire falls down, I may try to plunk it over another closer tree, which won't be near as tall and see what that does to the SWR in OMNI mode. (Nw/SE)

CU (all of a sudden!) in 9A-DX, RAC Winter and CQWW CW !
