Hi John,

< I was under the impression that the default was that one form would

serve both tbc native and ensemble>

Yes, it can, but you may not want to. Depending on your use case, you may
want to have different information displayed in TBC versus in TBE for the
same thing.

There are three form types (modes) available - general (works in TBC and
TBE), TBE edit form (only works in TBE for edit forms), TBE search form
(only works in TBE for search forms). If you have both, a general customized
form for a class and an edit form, TBE will use the edit form. Same for
search.

When you click on the Form Layout view in TBC, you will see an icon in the
upper right allowing you to switch between the different forms - see the
screenshot below

< If I do need to create the forms in edit mode is there any way I can

copy my original forms.>

You don't need to. The way of doing this would be to make changes directly
in .tbc file. It is in RDF.

< Also if I were to make changes, would just

refreshing the browser be good enough for these changes to be

reflected>

It is a bit more complicated than that because, for performance reasons,
form configurations are cached. Assuming that you are working in TBC-ME, you
need to do the following:

After you make changes, save the model in TBC

Then go to <http://localhost:8083/tbl/> http://localhost:8083/tbl/ and
click on <http://localhost:8083/tbl/admin/> TopBraid Live Server
Administration

Then press "Clear all sessions" button

Regards,

Irene

Subject: [topbraid-users] Ensemble Edit Forms

Hi,

I am just beggining to delve into the mysterious world of Ensemble,

but have created my forms in Form mode (general), but the rich edit

text box is not showing up.

Reading the following from the help files

"Note that TopBraid Composer can be used to define form layouts for

its companion product TopBraid Ensemble. TopBraid Ensemble

distinguishes between Edit Forms and Search Forms, and Composer

provides an option to switch between editing those two modes

explicitly. A third option (which is default) is to edit the form

layout for both. If you are a pure TopBraid Composer user, you should

not change these settings at all, and please refer to the TopBraid

Ensemble documentation for the specific form editing options. "

I was under the impression that the default was that one form would

serve both tbc native and ensembe (without the component widgets for

tbc native. If this is not the case I cannot find the option mentioned

above.

If I do need to create the forms in edit mode is there any way I can

copy my original forms. Also if I were to make changes, would just

refreshing the browser be good enough for these changes to be

reflected

Many thanks again in advance

Regards

John
