ui:instanceView can be attached to any class, and the most specific subclass 
will be used if possible. Attaching something to rdfs:Resource means that this 
would be the default fallback view if nothing else is defined further down in 
the tree.

Yes this should work as well. I would need to see your exact set-up to comment 
on where the problem may be.
