Importing remote files from the web will look at other information than the "file" ending, and try to load RDF/XML by default. So yes, using the .owl extension from web URLs is still perfectly fine, but local files ending with .owl are no longer supported to avoid the confusion with Protege OWL/XML files.

It seems that I was using an older version that was attempting imports from files that no longer exists at their referenced locations, thanks. I assume this means TBC will still do imports of files with ".owl" extensions? It just won't let you view files with ".owl" extensions (I have changed mine to ".rdf" to view it in TBC)..

    Hi Dan,

could you please clarify how you are importing that URL and what
    the URL is?

What is the solution for failed imports of remotely-hosted
