After seeing this email, I just downloaded tbcfree-4.6.3v20150326-1917-macosx.cocoa.x86_64.tar.gz
and it unarchived just fine for me on two different Macs (I used Firefox Yosemite on one, and Safari Lion on the other). Interestingly, Firefox resulted in a tar.gz file and Safari in a tar file, but they unarchived fine in both cases. Perhaps try another browser (or disable download helper plugins) and see if that somehow caused a problem with your specific download or unarchive software?
