I found the relevant SWA code and figured it out. It worked by adding 
triple in the graph that's loaded into the UI:

<http://topbraid.org/swa#LangSelector>

  <http://topbraid.org/swa#customLanguages> "en de zh zh-hans zh-hant" ;
