Very interesting. In particular: https://tails.boum.org/todo/monkeysphere/ which points out that replacing the CA hierarchy with a web-of-trust hierarchy just isn't that simple! One of the the other pages links to: http://65bgvta7yos3sce5.onion/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=649&#p3418 which spells out the trust aspects quite well. I guess that many of us will trust EFF through their reputation.
