  I did a bit of digging on this issue.  If we directly use the Windows APIs 
and set the appropriate flags, we could overwrite a hidden file.  But this is 
very low on my priority list.

If someone has a chance to try, perhaps the Mercurial posixfile implementation 
does the right thing here.
