Oh, I didn't know that (I'm heavy Vimperator user). You're right: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Keyboard+shortcuts Even so, I suspect whether Firefox's Ctrl+G shortcut is popular. (I couldn't find application uses Ctrl+G for "next match"...) And it was derived from GTK+'s Ctrl+G. FYI, Internet Explorer uses Enter/Shift-Enter for next/prev search, but of course it doesn't work in only search text box. The good point of Firefox's Ctrl+G is that it's global shortcut.
