If I remove all entries (individually!) from the repo registry things
are speedy again.
But how do I prevent this thing from accumulating temporary repos?

Hg's model seems to be "use many clones to test your stuff", so why add
lots of temporary paths to the list. Wouldn't it make more sense if the
repo registry is more manual and just add stable paths to it?
