I can "script the database" and export the
create_everything_stored_procedure.sql text file and track that, but
running that step is a one-off step to design of the end-product and
will never be consistently implemented without automation. So, does
anyone out there have a strategy for automating that task?
My first thought is to create a hook in mercurial, but that would still
be a one-off step to design. I guess what I'm thinking of would be
creating a trigger on SQL Server Management Studio (or perhaps a
DDL_Changed trigger, though I'm sure no hook for that exists), that
would run the script whenever the designer exits the tool. Anyone every
try something like that?
I know that SQL Server has internal support for SCC API, but there
aren't any active SCC mercurial plugins available. I heard that SQL
Server 2012 is supposed to support the newer API, but HgSccPackage is
installed on my computer, and it doesn't show up in list of plugins for
2012. Anyone else have any experience with a SQL plugin?
