This was the hint, that helped. I googled for 'tortoise svn repro browser crash' about a week ago, but did not find (or notice) that thread. :-( I installed a nightly build and the problem was gone. I am yet to see what other problems might be caused by using that nightly build. In case of further trouble I will downgrade to 1.11.x.
