Hi all, I've been thinking hard about this possible topic:
http://teachingopensource.org/index.php/OSCON_2010#The_lives_of_teachers_and_how_to_engage_them I've sketched some ideas, but ultimately it seems like the wrong context for a writing sprint. That is, the majority of the tracks at OSCON2009 were not offered by educators; it seems to be a by-practitioners-for-practitioners conference. While the topic might make a good presentation/talk, I'm not sure it will make a good writing sprint, as the people most likely to help drive the writing wouldn't be there. This could make a good sprint for a conference like SIGCSE, though. That said, I've put together a set of proposals regarding parallel programming on the Arduino. We're nearing release of our tools and text (http://concurrency.cc/), or have partially released, or students will be using our software and text a week from now, so I guess we already have released... so it seemed like we had a good opportunity to submit a paired talk and workshop. I can tag it Education, and link it against the TOS track, or submit to "Emerging Trends" and "Programming Languages," which is where I think we fit best. Thoughts from the TOS-OSCON organizing committee? (I don't have the proposals themselves online yet, or I'd point to them. It's been a busy weekend.) Cheers, Matt _______________________________________________ tos mailing list tos@teachingopensource.org http://teachingopensource.org/mailman/listinfo/tos
