I think the books are contributed by the authors not by the publishers, who
would have no incentive to do so.  I'm in the process of trying to get the
copyright back from Prentice Hall for my own Java text book.  My sense is

longer wishes to publish the book.  In my case they published 3 editions and
are now doing nothing with it.   When my co-author and I do get the
copyright, I will definitely consider adding it to this site.  I was
thinking of adding it to Wiki books, but that seems to be more for
collaborative books-in-progress.
