Hello, I know courses are in full swing. I have a (thought|offer|suggestion) for a potentially very helpful programming project.
A non-profit that I work with occasionally is providing Linux based computers to an Autistic resource center. Unfortunately, the resources appropriate for students on the autism spectrum are a bit limited in Linux. (This group evaluated Qimo and tried to run Zac Browser (through Wine and Codeweaver) with little success.) So far, one non-profit, one autistic resource center, a few autism / education specialists, and a few possible Python programmers have expressed interest. If you / your classes / or someone you know might be interested in this, please contact me off list. So far, no grant proposals or IRBs have been filed. I'm hoping that we can get into that once a few people have committed / expressed interest. The center and students in question are described here: http://linuxlock.blogspot.com/2011/09/autism-where-linux-falls-silent.html Thank you for your time, D Davis _______________________________________________ tos mailing list tos@teachingopensource.org http://lists.teachingopensource.org/mailman/listinfo/tos
