Update: found Zamansky's email and asked (after pacing the office for a
few minutes working up the courage to do so) and will let everyone know
if I hear back.

Update update: Heard back, and Mike seems like a cool guy, but is (understandably) utterly swamped right now and asked if we could touch base in Feb (I said yes and set up an autoping to remind us both).

He writes: "It's early to tell how the new school will develop, but I've been an open source proponent since day 1. At Stuy, our CS classes use labs that run linux and we try to introduce them to open source tools and culture as much as we can."

So -- this is encouraging! If anyone has any stuff they'd like to share with Mike when we reconnect in mid-Feb (as a reminder, they're building a NYC-area high school devoted to software engineering), pop it in here, and I'll reference this thread when the conversation resumes.
